The Creative Space Project is a unique project delivered by v i s y o n aimed at combining creativity arts and multi-media with emotional issues. We aim to increase emotional health and wellbeing which leads to emotional resilience.
There is much evidence to support this view that: ‘Creativity plays a key role in resilience and the ability to overcome obstacles’ (Werner, E and Siebert, A, 2010 The Survivor Personality, Pedigree Books). We use creative skills ranging from: team building, song writing and art to forum drama, dance and multi-media.
The staff, facilitators and volunteers have a committed focus to using different forms of creativity to build the emotional resilience of young people.
‘Participation in arts projects have been shown to increase mental health, raise self esteem and decrease social isolation’ (Werner, E and Smith, R,1992, Overcoming the odds: High Risk Children from Birth to Adulthood, Cornell University Press).
In all of our work we combine emotional themes with a creative media to engage young people in an empowering way. We aim to help young people to reach their potential and make positive changes in their lives.
Emotional themes range from: anger management, cyber bullying and anxiety to family relationships, bereavement and confidence.
The group activities we provide include:
- Group workshops in schools
- Group workshops in our centre at Fellowship House, Congleton
- Group workshops in Outreach locations across Cheshire East and West
- 2 residentials a year for 16 -19 year olds
