E-Motion Terms & Conditions

This site has been developed for visyon to offer online counselling to 11 to 25 year olds in the Congleton Borough.
It is important that you understand the terms and conditions of the service so please read them carefully! If there is any part that you do not understand please feel to contact us with your questions.

Is it Confidential?

Whenever possible the information that you share with our counsellors will remain confidential. However we will pass on information if:

• We are very concerned for the safety of you or someone else (e.g. if we know a child is being abused), and
• We know who or where the person is or who it is who is going to harm someone

In such a case, whether you are referring to yourself (if you are under 18) or someone else, then we may want to talk with the individual's carers, teachers, a social worker or even the Police about the situation. We will tell you if the things you're saying make us want to take action.

We cannot be responsible for the security of the e-mail system that you use or the route your e-mail takes to reach us. Two things you can do to increase your confidentiality are:

• Set up a free anonymous e-mail account at www.yahoo.co.uk or www.hotmail.com.
• Remember that the computer you are using records the pages and links that you have visited. So if you don’t want anyone to know that you have visited this site you should delete this record. To learn how to do this, the NSPCC’s website www.there4me.com has an easy to follow guide on the page entitled ‘cover your tracks’ .

Record Keeping

No session content, private e-mails or e-mail addresses are stored on visyon‘s computers. Notes are made on paper and stored securely. All records of support are coded and kept separate from your personal details (e.g. Name and e-mail address). If you e-mail us once we will keep a note of this for 1 year, unless we are worried about your safety. In all other cases of support we will keep notes on paper for 5 years.
If you wish to view the notes that we have kept please e-mail us to arrange a suitable way of accessing your records. In such a case we will ask you a number of questions to check your identity.

How to Complain
