about us

visyon was set up by voluntary effort in 1994 as a response to three teenage suicides. Their experiences identified the need for a community based, flexible and easily accessible service for 11 to 25 year olds.
The service began on a part-time basis working in Congleton town, and in January 2001, following a successful Lottery grant application the work of visyon expanded to cover the whole borough. The staff group has also expanded, but is still supported by volunteers.

visyon Ltd is a charitable company (registered charity number 1107951). The organisation is run by a group of trustees drawn from local government, health and social care backgrounds, business and the local community. The company is registered in England and Wales (company number 5250758).

Today funding comes from service delivery, the Connexions Development Fund, CRH Charitable Trust (Cheadle Royal Hospital, with smaller grants from other sources, and internal undraising providing valuable additional income.

visyon seeks to provide a high quality and professional service and will continue to create links and develop partnerships with other agencies in the field. We endeavour to provide equality of opportunity and a service which makes no charge to service users.

As an Organisational Member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), visyon is bound by its Ethical Framework and Complaints Procedure (further information about BACP can be found on their web-site www.bacp.co.uk)
