visyon works in a wide range of locations in both Cheshire East and Cheshire West and Chester. We seek to promote emotional well-being in young people, through a broad range of accessible services specifically tailored to their needs.

visyon is an organisational member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and adheres to its ethical framework and complaints procedure.

Counselling at the visyon centre in Congleton
Congleton is where it all started and we are pleased to continue to offer face-to-face counselling at our Congleton premises. Schools Counselling
visyon has a proven track record of delivering one-to-one counselling in schools since 1999. We provide a counsellor for a given number of 1-hour sessions per week (based on the individual school’s timetable). We use only professionally qualified counsellors, all of whom have extensive experience of working with young people. They are used to working in the school environment, are friendly, approachable and dependable.

Whatever difficulties the young person is experiencing, the counsellor will help them to find their solutions. They also offer specialist support to young people on specific issues such as eating disorders, bereavement, self-harm, bullying, substance misuse.

The service is well-advertised in the school and promoted to the staff. We look for feedback from clients so that we can look for ways of improving the service, based on what the children and young people want. We receive overwhelmingly positive feedback from school pupils and staff.

The counsellors work with other agencies where appropriate, such as the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHs).

visyon can help schools to achieve the five outcomes of Every Child Matters and Healthy Schools.

Child Protection and Safeguarding are central to our work. visyon works in accordance with recommendations of the Local Safeguarding Children Board and keeps up to date with legislation and guidance in this field. All staff, volunteers and trustees have a Criminal Record Check.

All employment issues, including clinical supervision, are managed by
visyon, ensuring that the school receives a complete package.

Workshops for school pupils
Schools sometimes find that there are particular issues that are better-addressed in groups of pupils. This could be around:
• dealing with anger
• how to be assertive, not angry
• understanding and working with stress
• how to cope with exam stress
• peer support and training
• how to raise self-esteem
• bereavement and loss

visyon is pleased to be able to offer workshops using creative means of expression such as music, photography, art, poetry, song-writing, graffiti – see Get Creative

Training for professionals
visyon offers a range of training packages to professionals to complement the services for young people, all with the ultimate aim of improving the well-being of young people. Subjects that can be covered are:

These workshops can vary in number and duration depending on the depth of content required and the number of participants.

Workshops for other youth organisations
visyon is pleased to work with other organisations and is able to offer workshops for young people as in the “workshops for school pupils” above, and also using creative means of expression such as music, photography, art, poetry, song-writing, graffiti – see Get Creative. We are looking for partner organisations to carry this out over the period to 2014.

Counselling in the community
In partnership with Connexions, visyon is able to offer one-to-one counselling in the following locations:

E-motion online counselling
Some people find that talking face-to-face with a counsellor is not for them, perhaps it is physically difficult to get to one of our counselling places, perhaps you don’t have transport, or perhaps it is just hard to leave the house. Maybe you would rather receive counselling at home.

If any of these apply to you, you can receive on-line counselling, either in real-time using MSN Messenger, or by email by contacting sam@visyon.org.uk. We call this service e-motion.

For employers
Did you know that visyon can offer:
