Following a growing number of referrals over the past few months and the impact this has been having on our waiting lists, the Trustees and management team have decided that the current average waiting time for clients is unacceptable.

The Board of Trustees of Visyon has taken the extremely difficult decision to temporarily close our waiting list. This will only apply to “One-to-One” sessions from 8 September 2021.  We are committed to supporting children, young people & their families and Our Open Access initial contact service, group and webinar provision is still available, so please do still get in touch if you need help with your mental health.

This difficult decision was taken because the impact of the Coronavirus pandemic has led to increasing numbers of children and young people in Cheshire East seeking support for mental health issues, and the complexity of support they need. We have faced significantly increased demand over the past 12 months, with over 230 children & young people presenting with additional risk factors in the past six months – double the amount in previous years.

We are doing everything we can to actively manage and reduce waiting lists and offer as much support as possible to children and young people who are facing mental health challenges.  We are working closely with our funding partners - the Cheshire Clinical Commissioning Group and Cheshire East Local Authority, and Cheshire & Wirral Partnership - to ensure that every young person who needs support can still access help from a variety of sources.  We continue to work on external bids to secure additional funding for our wider services. We are hoping this will enable us to reduce the waiting list time to below four months for all areas speedily and we hope to reopen the waiting list as soon as possible. We will provide further updates on this situation as soon as possible.

In the meantime, if you have any concerns about your mental health, or would like information regarding local services and how you can access help, please contact the Visyon Initial Contact Team on 01260 290000.
